About our Editing Skills workshop
Good writing skills are highlighted as a key ability in PMDS competency development framework. Aside from that, strong writing skills are an absolute necessity in the modern world.
First impressions last and the written word is very often the initial point of contact between an organisation and its customers. It is important that information is conveyed concisely, clearly and – above all – professionally. Good editing skills bolster good writing skills and ensure that all content is as intended.
It should also be accessible to anyone, while still maintaining high standards in grammar, punctuation and spelling.
This hands-on workshop is designed to help attendees build their skills and confidence in editing a range of documents quickly and effectively.
With clear English as the goal, this workshop will ensure delegates can produce well-structured documents that display a consistent and professional style and are that are easy to read and understand.
- Understanding the role of an editor;
- Setting standards: best practice;
- Creating an editing checklist;
- How to create strong documents using language and layout;
- Editing strategies and practice; and
- How to avoid common mistakes.
This workshop benefits anyone who has a responsibility for preparing and editing communications on behalf of their organisation, be it internal reports, published and online material, or marketing collateral.
